Illegal tree cutting operations are taking place in an area stretching from « Chir Beit Daou » in Kfaraaqab to Aqabat Zabbougha and up to Dhour Deir Shomra, distorting the natural landscape of the upper basin valleys of Nahr el Kalb, and threatening the biodiversity of this site.

What remains of the forests is at risk of wildfires due to the dry branches left by the offenders under the trees and along the roadsides.

We appeal to Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abbas Hajj Hassan and the security forces, urging them to open an investigation to uncover the perpetrators and punish them severely.
